Sweet Holiday: IDF Soldiers Eat 10 Tons of Dried Fruits on Tu Bishvat

The Ministry of Defense purchased some 10 tons of dried for the IDF’s soldiers in honor of Tu Bishvat.

The 10-ton purchase included 2,000 kilograms of raisins, about 500 kg of Almonds, a ton of peanuts, a ton and a half of dried apricots,1,000 kg of banana chips and a half ton of cranberries.

Tu BiShvat, Hebrew for the 15th of the month of Shvat, is a Jewish holiday which celebrates the date for calculating the beginning of the agricultural cycle for the purpose of Maaser.

Fruit, and various nuts are traditionally eaten on Tu BiShvat.
