3 Jewish Minors Denied Lawyers’ Visit in Security Detention
Three Jewish minors arrested in a security investigation by the Shin Bet were denied a request to meet with their lawyers on Monday, The Times of Israel reported.
The Lod District Court extended the ban until Tuesday, although it consented to their attorneys’ requests that a probation officer check on their well-being. The three have been held in custody since they were arrested at their yeshivah in the Shomron on Sunday.
Israeli law allows authorities to refuse a lawyer’s visit for an individual arrested in a security-related crime for up to 21 days.
The lawyer for the boys, Itamar Ben Gvir of Honenu, has protested the detention without access to legal counsel, charging that his clients are likely being subject to physical abuse, as has occurred in previous cases of this kind.
