Naftali Bennett and Ayelet Shaked are not the only politicians leaving their former political homes. On Sunday, Yisrael Hayom reported that MK Michael Oren will join his former Kulanu party-mate Yoav Galant in leaving the party.

Last week, Kan News quoted Likud MK David Bitan as saying that he had been aware of Galant’s plan “for a long time.” According to Bitan, Galant, currently the Housing Minister, will join the Likud. Yisrael Hayom said that Oren “has not ruled out” joining another party, and that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had reserved a place for him on the Likud list, if he wanted it.

In a statement, Oren said that “for the past four years I answered the call of duty and served Israel in the Knesset. Throughout my time I have worked to enhance Israel’s standing in the world. I met with many leaders and fought BDS groups, and worked to build Israel’s reputation in the world. I will continue to fight BDS groups and anti-Israel movements, and to represent Israel in the world.”

Also announcing that he was dropping out of politics was United Arab List Jamal Zahalka. “After 16 years I am proud to have been a part of the changes that I and members of Balad brought about in turning Israel into a state for all its citizens, as an alternative to the current government. I will not stop working until the vision of equality is a reality for Jews and Arabs, and until there is a just peace that will correct the historic injustices against Palestinians.”
