Plans Move Forward for Housing in Yehudah and Shomron

YERUSHALAYIM

The government has granted approvals for significant building in Yehudah and Shomron, overall some 1,601 housing units, Arutz Sheva reported on Tuesday.

The Settlement Subcommittee of the Supreme Planning Council of Yehudah and Shomron approved plans to build 1,113 housing units, as well as approval for commitment for another 488, though the latter was described as “interim” and not “currently actionable.”

The head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council, Shlomo Neeman, said that permits for Neve Daniel, Metzad and Karmei Tzur would address a vital need.

“I thank Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for granting such vital permits for the settlement project in Gush Etzion,” as well as arranging for an educational institution in the town of Givot.

“We hope that concepts such as ‘freezing’ [of construction in the region] will remain historical concepts, and we will be able to give the sons and daughters of the residents who continue to live here, as well as new residents, the opportunity to take a significant part in the life of the community in Gush Etzion,” he said.
