Health Ministry: 15 Deaths From West Nile Fever in Israel

The Health Ministry has announced that the death toll in Israel from West Nile Fever has reached 15, with 299 patients diagnosed during the current outbreak.

The disease, transmitted by a mosquito-borne virus, has led to the hospitalization of two individuals in serious condition at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa. According to a hospital spokesperson, these patients likely contracted the virus recently while in the central part of the country.

Dr. Michal Paul, director of the Infectious Diseases Institute at Rambam, clarified, “The fact that they were hospitalized at Rambam does not indicate the presence of infected mosquitoes in the northern region at this stage.”
