In a targeted operation led by the Paratrooper’s Brigade, the IDF conducted strategic raids on the residences of senior Hamas officials nestled within Gaza’s upscale Rimal neighborhood, it was announced Sunday.

The operation, supported by the IDF Armored Corps, Combat Engineering Corps, and air force, saw combat troops engaging Hamas terrorists in Sheikh Ejalin and Rimal areas.

During the mission, IDF forces uncovered approximately 35 tunnel shafts, seized an assortment of weapons, and neutralized several Hamas combatants. Additionally, a raid on a Hamas military camp led to the discovery of ammunition depots and seven rocket launchers.

The IDF highlighted Rimal’s status as one of Gaza’s more affluent communities, often housing top-ranking Hamas commanders. However, despite its residential appearance, the neighborhood serves as a camouflage for Hamas’s martial activities, utilizing civilian spaces for military purposes. Among its features are Hamas military posts and government buildings, underscoring the complex challenges faced by IDF forces navigating urban landscapes while targeting militant strongholds.
