17 Children Hospitalized After Bus Overturned Near Beit Shemesh

A bus carrying around 30 children overturned near Beit Shemesh Wednesday, which left one child in serious condition, according to Channel 14.

The children were between the ages of 8 and 12 years old, and are members of the local Ariel youth group.

Shaarei Tzedek hospital reported that 17 children have arrived at its trauma center, one in serious condition, who needed to be ventilated. Two were in moderate condition and another 14 in mild condition.

The bus was traveling on Route 38 when the accident occurred.

Paramedics arrived on the scene, as well as police and MGB forces. The area was closed, and Kaslon Square is at this time closed to traffic in the direction of Route 38 to Route 44.

MDA paramedic Oshri Adri and MDA medics Yishai Glick and Shmuel Pashkos said:
“We quickly arrived at the scene and saw the bus upside down on its side in a ditch near the road. 15 passengers, children between the ages of 8 and 12, got out of the bus, all of them fully conscious, and the bus driver also helped to get them out.”
