1 Person Dead, 45 Injured After Bus Carrying High School Students Overturned in Orange County

A bus carrying high school students in Orange County overturned Thursday evening, leaving one person dead and at least 45 injured, reports ABC.
The bus, which was transporting students from Farmingdale High School in Nassau County, was en route to a musical camp in Greely, Pennsylvania, when it rolled down an embankment on route I-84 in Wawayanda at around 1:20 p.m.
The deceased is believed to be an adult; five people on board are in critical condition, and are believed to be students.
Westbound lanes are closed at exit 15. The highway was expected to be closed for several hours, according to State Police.
The person killed in the crash is believed to be an adult. The five passengers who were critically injured are all believed to be juveniles.
“We are grateful for the first responders whose speedy action saved lives and we will continue to support them however necessary, Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “Our hearts are with all who are impacted by this horrific situation.”
