Shomrim Assist in Arrest of Suspects in Boro Park Pocketbook Theft
By Matis Glenn

Two suspects were arrested Wednesday in connection with the Friday theft of a Boro Park woman’s pocketbook containing many valuables, Shomrim tells Hamodia.
The victim was shopping in a store located in the area of 13th Avenue and 49th Street in the afternoon, when she momentarily left a shopping cart containing her pocketbook. When she returned, she discovered that her pocketbook, containing a large amount of cash, credit cards, and other valuables, had been stolen.
She alerted the store manager, who called Shomrim. Together with store staff, Shomrim members spotted on surveillance cameras not only the thief, but an accomplice who was acting as a lookout inside the store. Shomrim then examined street surveillance cameras and pieced together the suspects’ movements, tracking them five blocks, whereupon they entered a car that had been waiting for them, along with another lookout who had been on the street in front of the store. The surveillance footage captured the getaway car’s license plates, too.
Shomrim released pictures and information on the suspects.
On Wednesday, at around 3:05 p.m., a Shomrim member spotted the suspects’ car on 14th Avenue, with all four of the original passengers inside. He alerted police, who intercepted the suspects on 20th Avenue and 50th Street, and arrested the two suspects seen on camera directly taking part in the theft.
The status of the suspects driver and street lookout are unknown at this time.
