Shomrim Warn of Thefts by House Cleaners

Shomrim are warning the community to be vigilant as the clock counts down to Pesach and many families enlist the help of house cleaners.

A few weeks ago, a Boro Park family was distraught after discovering that a $10,000 bracelet was missing from its box, after a cleaning lady had left their house. Certain that she was the culprit, the family hired her again Thursday and set cash out as a trap.

After taking the bait, Shomrim and police were called, and the cleaning lady was arrested.

Shomrim say that these incidents are unfortunately quite common, and are even more frequent during the weeks leading up to Pesach.

Even when hiring cleaning workers from agencies, Shomrim says it’s important to vet the individual workers themselves, as the agencies often do not perform sufficient background checks.
