By Matis Glenn
A soldier from the intelligence division was convicted Thursday, of charges that he passed on classified information, which may have endangered the security of the state, the IDF announced.
The soldier, whose name is not being released, was on trial in a military court after prosecutors said that he shared information that he was made privy to in his position in the intelligence division, following a joint investigation by the IDF, Israel Police and General Security Service..
Some of the information that the soldier passed on to others was later published on the internet. While most of the information was benign, some pieces of data were compromising to the security of the state, according to the indictment.
The soldier was sentenced to 27 months in jail, which included a suspended sentence.
