A 31 year old man, his wife and three small children were walking on Throop Avenue and Myrtle Avenue at around 9 p.m., when they encountered the suspect, who was walking in their direction. Shomrim tells Hamodia that the family was not directly approached, but were concerned at the man’s behavior and called to report the incident.

Shomrim notified police, and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force responded.  The suspect, Sheifa Rahim, 24, was found at around 12 a.m. in a local homeless shelter. Police arrested and charged him with five counts of Menacing as a Hate Crime in the 2nd degree, three counts of Acting in a Manner Injurious to a Child, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree.
