BORO PARK — It was a project which was long overdue. The Satmar Beis Medrash on 10th Avenue and 45th Street, one of the earliest in Boro Park, had served a generation of mispallelim, and it was time to renovate it as is fitting for a makom Torah uTefillah.

The shul was originally established with the help of Reb Ben Zion Gelbman, z”l, along with his son-in-law, Reb Duvid Rosenberg, z”l. Reb Duvid, the owner of US Chocolate, was one of the roshei hakehillah who was an integral member of the shul, and over the years supported the shul in a substantial way.

After the petirah of Reb Duvid, the Rosenberg family undertook to sponsor the renovation of the section of the shul where the daily learning and davening take place.

Work began in middle of the summer and was completed by the end of Succos. This past Motzaei Shabbos, 10 Kislev/December 4, the shul celebrated the kevius mezuzah with the participation of the Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Joel, who affixed the mezuzah, and signed the shtar declaring the renovated section should bear the name Tefillah leDuvid in memory of Reb Duvid Rosenberg, z”l, and the zechus should be le’illui nishmaso.

“The family is gratified to hear reports from people that it is a pleasure to learn and daven in that section,” said Reb Avraham Rosenberg, the son of Reb Duvid. “We installed new lighting, new air conditioning and heating, and provided whatever is necessary for the honor of this makom kadosh to enhance the Torah and tefillah which take place there.
