BROOKLYN — The NYPD has arrested two teens who were allegedly part of a group that threw eggs and garbage at a Jewish teen last month.

The incident occurred in broad daylight, in Midwood, at East 18th Street and Avenue M, on the afternoon of October 24, at 1:05 p.m., according to police and the victim’s father, who spoke with Hamodia about the attack.

A group of approximately eleven individuals cornered the victim, a 15-year-old student at the nearby Mesivta Ohr Shraga-Veretzky, and threatened to beat him up unless he said, “Free Palestine” on camera. The boy complied, but the group did not let him go: they threw eggs at him, as well as garbage from a nearby garbage can and from the ground, while making vulgar antisemitic statements. The victim was struck by the eggs on his back and shoulders.

On Tuesday, police arrested a 15-year-old male, and on Wednesday police arrested a 16-year-old male, the first two suspects arrested in the case. Each has been charged with aggravated harassment.

“I am pleased these perpetrators were arrested, and look forward to the arrest of the rest of this gang,” the victim’s father, who asked not to be identified, told Hamodia. “And I’d like to thank Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, who was instrumental in assisting our family and securing NYPD presence in the area for the yeshiva after the attack.”
