Hamodia regrets to inform readers of the petirah of Harav Feivel Cohen, zt”l, one of the senior poskim in America. He was 85 years old.

The levayah is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, then in Brooklyn, at 4:40 p.m. in front of Yeshiva Chaim Berlin at 1605 Coney Island Ave., and at 5:00 p.m. at K’hal Tomchei Torah at 1966 Ocean Ave., where Rav Cohen served as Rav for decades before retiring and moving to Lakewood.

Per Rav Cohen’s tza’vaah, no hespedim will be delivered.

The aron will then be flown to Eretz Yisrael, where a levayah will be held at Mir-Yerushalayim at 7:00 p.m. Monday.

Harav Cohen was appointed by Harav Yitzchak Hutner, zt”l, as a magid shiur in Yeshiva Rabeinu Chaim Berlin when he was just 27 years old. Several years later, he founded Yeshiva Nachalas HaLeviim in Remsen Village together with ybl”c Harav Pinchas Kahn, shlita.

When the neighborhood changed, he became a magid shiur in Yeshiva of Brooklyn for a short while before dedicating his time to producing his seforim.

Rav Feivil authored Badei Hashulchan on Yoreh Deah, which was recognized as one of the essential seforim for learning these halachos. Previously he had published seforim titled Da’as Cohen on sugyos.
