A young Orthodox man was hit while walking the streets of Williamsburg in a random attack on Motzoei Shabbos, according to Shomrim. The victim, an 18 year old dressed in visibly Jewish garb, was hit in the head from behind at around 1:30am on Penn Street and Lee Avenue, knocking his hat and yarmulkah to the ground. It does not appear that the assailant said anything to the victim before striking him.

Shomrim, NYPD and Hatzalah were called. While the victim suffered from pain in the back of his head, he was not seriously injured.

Shomrim provided NYPD with surveillance footage, which shows the suspect as he fled the scene of the crime. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.

Anyone who has information regarding the incident is urged to call NYPD and Shomrim.
