Firefighters Battle Flames Near Yerushalayim, Kiryat Shemona

YERUSHALAYIM – Large fires broke out Wednesday outside Yerushalayim and near Kiryat Shemona in the North and dozens of firefighting teams were battling them all afternoon.

About 35 teams and an aerial firefighter were sent to the Upper Galil to fight fires near Kibbutz Manara and the city of Kiryat Shmona, according to a statement issued by the Fire and Rescue Authority.

In the area near Mesilat Tzion, not far from Latrun, on the road to the capital, some 29 crews and seven firefighting planes were working to control a wildfire.

There was no immediate danger to homes, according to the authority.

The cause of the fires has not yet been determined.
