Man Knocks Hat Off Jew in Boro Park

BORO PARK — A man was arrested and charged with a hate crime for knocking the hat off a Chasidic Jew in Boro Park Thursday night.
Surveillance video shows the man riding a bike on 18th Avenue near 48th Street, at 10:33 p.m. As he passes a Chassidic Jew, he knocks the Jew’s hat off. The 39-year-old victim was not injured.
Boro Park Shomrim apprehended the suspect nearby.
The suspect, Adonias Alvarez, 27, was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment as a hate crime.
