NYPD Chief of Personnel to Retire, Replacement Announced

NEW YORK − NYPD Chief of Personnel, Chief Martin Morales, who has led the Personnel Bureau since 2019, is scheduled to retire at the end of September, and NYPD Police Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell has appointed Chief Donna G. Jones, who serves as Chief of Staff to the Police Commissioner, as the acting Chief of Personnel.

Chief Morales has been with the NYPD since he joined as a cadet in June, 1987 and was sworn in as a police officer in July, 1988. In his long, distinguished career, he served in several precincts, several Patrol positions, and in the Personnel division.

In her new position as acting Chief of Personnel, Chief Jones will be responsible for a division which is in charge of crime reduction, intelligence-driven policing, training, transparency and community engagement.
