Senior Official: If Erdogan Reverts to Anti-Israel Rhetoric, Israel Will Respond in Kind

Turkey and Israel ended their years’ long diplomatic crisis this week by announcing the restoration of full diplomatic ties. But despite the welcome denouement to this saga, this is hardly the end of the story, senior Israeli official told Yisrael Hayom.

If the past is anything to judge by, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan can be expected to continue with his wayward outbursts. Israeli leaders are well aware of this, the Israeli official said, noting that if Erdogan turns on Israel, it would know how to respond in kind.

“Just like diplomatic ties were upgraded, so too could they be downgraded if needed. But if we can now reconcile, then why not?” the official added.
