Shots Fired on Capitol Building Grounds, Blockade Breached
By Matis Glenn
A man fired multiple gunshots after driving his car into the Capitol building’s blockade late Saturday night, PBS News originally reported.
Capitol police later confirmed the report and added that the car erupted into flames after breaking through the barricade, on East Capitol Street and Second Street. The driver exited the vehicle, shot several times into the air, and while officers were proceeding to engage, shot himself.
Capitol police added that it does not appear that the gunmen was targeting government officials.
Congress is currently in recess.
