Arrest Made in Monsey Gel Gun Shooting

By Matis Glenn

A juvenile suspect has been arrested for allegedly shooting two Chassidic men in Monsey with a gel gun last Motzoei Shabbos, Ramapo Police announced Monday morning.

The suspect is being charged as a juvenile with Felony Attempted Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Weapon Possession, and the arrest was made with the help of Monsey Chaverim, Ramapo Police said. The suspect is scheduled to appear in family court.

The incident occurred at around 2:20 am, at the corner of West Central and Decatur Avenue, while the two men were walking down the street. The victims did not require medical attention.

Monsey Chaverim told Hamodia that its members canvassed the area immediately after the incident, taking down the license plate information of any car that matched the description provided by the victims, including one which was driving away from the area quickly. They gave that information to the police, who made the arrest.

Two weeks ago, also on a Motzoei Shabbos, two women were struck by BB guns while walking on Route 306 near Phyllis Terrace, an unknown man was hit by projectiles, and eggs were thrown at a woman pushing a stroller.

It is not known if the incidents are linked.
