Unique Siyum Initiated by Skvere Dayan, Shlita, Celebrated in Lake Forest Estates

“This was a most amazing event,” said Reb Yanky Meyer. “Many people had extra time on their hands during the 9 days, and It truly brought us all together with tremendous achdus. We all felt it was a most appropriate manner to drive homme the inyan of achdus we need so much these days, and we are grateful to the Skvere Dayan for suggesting this idea to us.”

“Last year, the Dayan suggested we pick a masechta and have everyone learn a daf, thereby completing the masechta together,” said Reb Yanky Meyer, president and founder of Misaskim. “Besides for the limud haTorah, it was a way for us to engender a spirit of achdus and unity during these days, which the Dayan felt was an important thing for us to work on during the 9 days.”

At the urging of Harav Mechel Steinmetz, shlita, Dayan of Toldos Yaakov Yosef-Skvere on 17th Avenue in Boro Park, the residents of Lake Forest Estates in Fallsburg, NY, celebrated a unique siyum in conjunction with the 9 days of Chodesh Av.

On Sunday afternoon, 3 Av, the residents gathered in the beis medrash of Lake Forest Estates and began learning their chosen blatt of Maseches Brachos, and within an hour and a half the entire masechta was completed from cover to cover. Afterwards, an individual made a siyum on an entire masechta he had learned by himself, and the entire tzibbur sat down to a fleishige seudah tendered in honor of the occasion. Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro of Congregation Shaaray Tefilah in North Miami Beach addressed the participants.
