Suspects in Monsey Assaults Arrested

Four teenage suspects have been arrested and arraigned on hate crime charges for shooting a BB gun and throwing eggs at women Motzoei Shabbos in Monsey.

Two women were walking on Route 306 near Phyllis Terrace at around 12:40 a.m. when they were struck by pellets from a BB gun. 

The victims were treated on the scene by Hatzalah of Rockland County, and suffered minor injuries.

The same night, eggs were thrown at a woman pushing a stroller on the same road; police believe it was the same people who fired the BB gun. A third victim, a man walking on West Maple Avenue, was hit by projectiles according to police videotape, but has not filed a report or come forward yet.

Two 19 year olds, Cody Vascak-Katchmar of Valley Cottage NY, and Kristina Fogarty of Tomkins Cove NY, were hit with six charges; one felony hate crime, a misdemeanor hate crime, and four other misdemeanors. Vascak-Katchmar is being held at jail, and Fogarty was released on $2,000 bail.

Two other suspects, ages 17 and 18, are being charged as juveniles and were released.

Sources tell Hamodia that one suspect involved was placed on a “curfew,” being unable to leave their house after 10 p.m.
