BROOKLYN — Pinny Ringel has won the race for Democratic District leader in the 48th Assembly, defeating incumbent David Schwartz by 3.8 percent, or 171 votes.
District leaders elect their party’s judicial nominees and county leaders, and serve unpaid two-year terms.
Ringel currently serves in the Community Affairs Unit of Mayor Eric Adams, and previously served as an aide to Bill de Blasio when he was councilman, public advocate, and mayor.
“I want to thank the voters of the 48th Assembly District for electing me as their next district leader!” Ringel tweeted. “Congratulations to my opponent David Schwartz on a hard fought race and for his past service to the community.”
