Cellular Reform Cancellation Approved for First Reading

As part of the agreement to dissolve the Knesset and call for new elections, an agreement has been reached to approve the first reading of the communications law advanced by MK Moshe Arbel of Shas which cancels the cellular reform of Communications Minister Yoaz Handel. Handel’s reforms would have rendered the cellular kosher phones virtually null and void, and it was vigorously opposed by the Chareidi parties.

While Communications Minister Yoaz Handel is angry about the agreement, he is powerless to prevent the law from passing.
