Police and Shomrim Arrest One, Search for Second Burglar in Five Towns Home Robbery
Two burglars broke into a home in Cedarhurst and fled after they stole a safe from the house.
Around 1:00 p.m., a call came in about the burglary, and Rockaway-Nassau Safety Patrol (Shomrim) sprung into action, gathering surveillance video from nearby residences and handing them over to the local police.
One suspect was arrested, and another fled in a vehicle. Police are searching for that second suspect.
Because of the robbery and the suspect at large, public schools in the area implemented a lockout in which students were restricted from leaving the grounds.
