Gold Chain Ripped Off Man’s Neck in Midwood

MIDWOOD — Thieves on motorbikes ripped a thousand-dollar gold chain off a man’s neck in broad daylight in Midwood on Monday.

The victim, a dark-skinned man who appeared to be in his low-20’s, told law enforcement that he was preparing to cross Coney Island Ave. between Aves. L and M on foot around 4:50 p.m., when he was suddenly pinned in by two motorbikes, with two men on each bike. One of the bikers ripped the chain off the victim’s neck, and then fled southbound on Coney Island Ave., while the other motorbike fled northbound.

Police and Shomrim responded to the scene, but the thieves were not immediately caught.
