Hamodia is saddened to report the petirah of the Lizensker Rebbe, Harav Yosef Meir Meier, zy”a, who was niftar in Yerushalayim at age 75, after being hospitalized in Sheba Hospital of Tel Hashomer.

The Rebbe was born on 5 Tishrei, 5708 in Budapest. His father, Reb Shem Tov was a descendant of the She’eiris Nasan Binyamin, a Rav in Pressburg during the time of the Chasam Sofer. Reb Shem Tov and his wife, Malka’s home was one filled with tzedakah and chessed. In this home, Rav Yosef Meir was raised steeped in Torah and chassidus.

The Lizensker Rebbe was close to the Satmar Rebbe, the Vayoel Moshe, and he learned in his yeshiva with great hasmadah. He married the daughter of the Tosher Rebbe. He eventually established Yeshiva Noam Elimelech in Monsey, where many talmidim thrived in an atmosphere which allowed them to be successful in their learning.

The Rebbe recently came to Eretz Yisrael for medical treatment.

The levayah was held on Teusday before shekiah at the beis haChaim in Tzefas.

The Rebbe left behind his only daughter, the wife of Harav Shimon Stern of Tosh, who is the son of Harav Meir Stern, the Rav of Meron.

Yehi zichro baruch.
