Yerushalayim — A proposed bill by The Ministry of Finance to reform education funding will cut billions of shekalim from the budget of the yeshivos administered by the chareidi educational networks, Kan reported.

The stated goal of the proposal, which is to be included in the 2023 budget in the Arrangements Law, is to encourage core studies by immediately cutting the budget of the education networks by 25%. The education networks will then be able to receive a supplemental budget if their students successfully pass tests in Hebrew, English and mathematics.

The reforms are scheduled to be submitted to the government next month.
