Man Arrested After Stealing Bike, Assaulting Owner in Boro Park

BORO PARK — A man has been arrested in Boro Park after stealing a delivery bike and assaulting its owner.
The incident occurred Monday afternoon outside Fischman’s grocery at 16th Avenue and 44th Street. The perpetrator stole the store’s delivery bike and fled on 44th Street. The store owner chased and confronted the thief, who then punched the owner, causing a laceration to his face. The owner called Shomrim, who pursued and followed the thief until police arrived and made the arrest, on Dahill Road near 43rd Street.
The arrestee has been identified as Daniel Evans, 31, of the Bronx. He was charged with third-degree robbery, petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
