A huge protest is expected this Friday, Rosh Chodesh Kislev, at the Kosel plaza, after MK Gilad Kariv (Labor) used his immunity as an MK last Rosh Chodesh and entered the plaza with a sefer Torah for the use of the Women of the Wall provocative group.

At first, the MKs of the chareidi and religious parties tried to reach a dialogue with the police and prevent the Kosel from being desecrated, chalilah. The MKs are expected to prevent the provocation from occurring once again.

Police have been informed that 25 MKs will arrive on Friday morning to prevent Kariv from violating the Kosel regulations so that he does not bring in a sefer Torah.

A statement sent by Shas CEO MK Rabbi Chaim Bitton to Shas representatives throughout the country began: “Following the sinister intentions of MK Gilad Kariv, a member of the Reform movement and with the support of the government and the coalition, to desecrate the kedushah of the Kosel.”

The announcement states that the chairman of the Shas party, MK Rabbi Aryeh Deri, together with MKs of Shas, MKs from United Torah Judaism and other factions will arrive this coming Friday, at 7:00 a.m. for Shacharis at the Kosel.

“The chairman calls on all our representatives in the local authorities to also attend the tefillah at the Kosel, as well as to bring with them many activists to sanctify Shem Shamayim,” concluded the statement from the Shas party.
