Housing Minister Ze’ev Elkin withdrew a bill on natural resource taxation that Israel’s coalition government tried to pass Monday night.

The bill was withdrawn after a filibuster by members of the opposition. The proposed bill would regulate the activities of the wealth fund to which tax payments from oil and gas companies are transferred.

Elkin said that he would return the bill to the plenum in about a week, after the budget is approved.
