Democratic Republic of the Congo President Felix Tshisekedi assured Prime Minister Naftali Bennett of his country’s intention to open diplomatic and economic missions in Yerushalayim.

Tshisekedi initially made the promise last year at an AIPAC convention.

The DRC leader, currently chairman of the African Union, also said that he supports Israel joining the body as an observer.

Bennett expressed his deep appreciation for the friendship between the two countries.

The leaders, who met in Yerushalayim on Thursday, pledged to expand cooperation in agriculture, communications and trade.
