Thousands Gather for Birkas Kohanim at the Kosel on First Day of Chol Hamoed
Thousands gathered at the Kosel on Wednesday morning, the first day of Chol Hamoed in Eretz Yisrael, for the mass Birkas Kohanim ceremony.
This year’s event, which has been scaled down due to the coronavirus pandemic, is set to be split into two days, with a similar ceremony slated for Thursday morning, the second day of Chol Hamoed in Eretz Yisrael and the first day of Chol Hamoed in Chutz La’Aretz.
The Ashkenazi and Sephardic Chief Rabbis, Harav David Lau and Harav Yitzchak Yosef, joined the tefillos Wednesday.
Hundreds of police officers, Border Police officers and volunteers have been deployed throughout the city of Yerushalayim, with an emphasis on the Old City area and the traffic routes in the area.
