BD’E – Hagaon Harav Elya Fisher, Zt”l

Hamodia regrets to inform you of the passing of Hagaon Harav Eliyahu Fischer zt”l. He was 80 years old.

Hagaon Harav Eliyahu Fischer served as the Gerer Rosh Hakollel in America for over 40 years. He was a member of the Nessius of Agudath Yisroel of America, and was a featured speaker at many events, including the Siyum Hashas.

Rav Fischer published Birchas HaShabbos in 5748/1988, with the haskamos of many Gedolei Hador. An expanded edition published in 5777/2007. In addition, in 5774/2004 he published Birchas Eliyahu based on his renowned shiurim on Sefer Sfas Emes, and recently published Beis Eliyahu on Perek Keitzad Mevarchin.

A few years ago, Rav Fischer moved to Yerushalayim, then in the last year moved to live Chatzor Haglilit. He was rushed to Ziv Hospital in Tzfat on Erev Shabbos in critical condition and was niftar on Friday night at the age of 80.

He left behind tbl”c his eishes chaver Rebbitzen Rivka Fischer and many talmidim around the world.

The levayah will leave from his home in Chatzor Haglilit at 1:00 p.m. and will proceed to Bnei Brak, where it will be at Beis Talmud L’horaah of Gur, 15 Rechov Meltzer at 5:00 p.pm. Kevurah will be in Segulah Cemetary in Petach Tikvah.
