Queens Midtown Tunnel Closed for Repaving

The Manhattan-bound north tube will be closed from Friday, April 16, at 11 p.m. through Monday, April 19, at 5 a.m. The Queens-bound south tube will be closed the next weekend, from Friday, April 23, at 11 p.m. through Monday, April 26, at 5 a.m.
There will also be overnight closures periodically between April 30-May 3 and May 7-10.
When one tube is closed, the other will be open with two lanes, one for each direction.
The repaving work is intended to improve the driving surface and make the ride for thousands of commuters smoother, the MTA said.
The tunnel has been closed for repaving every fee years due to the high number of daily traffic.
