IDF Covid Corps Leaves Virus-Free Bnei Brak

A year of pandemic and citywide shutdown was brought to a formal close on Thursday as IDF soldiers departed their posts in Bnei Brak where the covid infection rate has dwindled to nearly zero.

The city, which at one point had some 26,000 cases and suffered protracted shutdown, now reports only 28 cases, according to Channel 12 news.

Home Front Command troops were sent to Bnei Brak during the height of the pandemic to distribute food and supplies to thousands of residents in quarantine, and to coordinate and run test facilities.

The IDF held a ceremony to mark the occasion.
