Health Ministry: 679 COVID-19 Cases Reported Tuesday

The Health Ministry said on Wednesday that 679 new cases of the novel coronavirus were confirmed on Tuesday after 41,443 tests were conducted, indicating a 1.7% positivity rate.

There are currently 500 patients hospitalized in serious condition, with 207 of them on ventilators.

Since the start of the pandemic, 6,131 Israelis have succumbed to the virus.

The basic reproduction number, representing the average number of people each virus carrier infects, has dropped further to 0.59.
