The ministers agreed to open the skies to Israeli citizens who want to reach Uman. After a series of discussions, Minister Deri and his Ukrainian counterpart reached agreements according to the following outline:
In the first phase, two teams from both countries will be established. The first team will deal with the entry of citizens from both countries and the possibility of entry for those who meet the definitions they will determine. A second team will deal with the preparation for the absorption of thousands of nationalists on Rosh Hashanah.
Immediately after the discussions and the outline agreed upon by Interior Minister Deri and Interior Minister Abkov, Deri sent the outline to Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgeny Kornichuk. It should be noted that the outline was agreed in coordination with Health Minister Yuli Edelstein.
Interior Minister Deri: “Although there is still time until Rosh Hashanah, we have decided to address the issue now and help the tens of thousands of Israelis who travel throughout the year to Uman and especially for those who travel to the kever of Rav Nachman for Rosh Hashanah. I thank Interior Minister Abkov and Ambassador Kornichuk. ”
Interior Minister Abkov: “I would like to congratulate Minister Deri. He was determined to end the process and I believe that very soon both teams, the Israeli and the Ukrainian, will submit their recommendations so that soon, certainly in time for Rosh Hashanah, Israelis can return to Uman and pray.”
