The IRS will push off the annual April 15th tax filing deadline by a month, in recognition of the unusually tumultuous year it has been.

The new deadline has yet to be finalized but will be in mid-May, Bloomberg reported.

The deadline extension would give taxpayers more time to file returns and settle fines.

Members of Congress had called on the Treasury and IRS to delay the deadline, as new legislation and pandemic changes were shaping this year’s tax filings to be the most complicated in decades.
