The pediatric intensive care unit at the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in Yerushalayim reported on Motzoei Shabbos the death of a two-month-old infant, z”l.

The infant had been in serious condition, unconscious and on a ventilator, for several weeks.

According to the hospital, the infant had a pre-existing condition and had undergone a complex surgery immediately after birth.

Hadassah’s ICU department had been fighting to save the baby’s life in recent weeks, treating him around the clock. However, the coronavirus disease eventually reached his lungs and his sensitive and complex condition caused him to severely deteriorate, the hospital said in a statement.

“We share the deep pain of the family, with whom we have worked extensively together with during this period,” the statement said.

The hospital expressed its sincere condolences to the family.
