Frum Passengers Harassed on United Flight to Israel as ‘Virus Spreaders’

Several frum travelers on a United flight from Newark to Tel Aviv faced hostility from other passengers over their religious status.

When they boarded the United Flight 90 at 8:30 p.m. on Motzoei Shabbos, secular passengers insulted them as disease carriers and told them to stay away from the rest of the passengers.

When one of the frum passengers reported the discrimination to the head steward, a couple who repeatedly insulted them were escorted off the flight.

Many frum people have reported discrimination in response to media reports that the charedi sector has been driving much of the virus spread.

In a statement to Hamodia, United said, “United does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. When this matter was brought to our attention, we rebooked the customers in question on a later flight to their destination. We appreciate our crew’s prompt response to maintain a safe and respectful onboard environment.”
