1 Person Killed, 5 Wounded When Gunmen Open Fire in Brooklyn
A man was fatally shot and five other people were wounded when gunmen opened fire in Brooklyn early Wednesday, police said.
The victims were part of a group of people who had gathered on President Street in the Crown Heights neighborhood when shots were fired shortly after 2 a.m., police said.
Officers found three men and a woman with gunshot wounds when they arrived at the shooting scene. The victims were taken by ambulance to hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Two additional shooting victims, a man and a woman, arrived at Kings County Hospital by private car, police said. The 30-year-old man had been shot in the torso and was pronounced dead. Police have not released his name. The woman was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. Police have made no arrests.
The shootings were part of a wave of violence in New York City in recent weeks that included the death of a 1-year-old boy who was shot during a cookout in Brooklyn on Sunday.
