Poll Shows Strong Support for New Government

YERUSHALAYIM -

A poll released on Tuesday night showed that a decisive 62 percent of Israelis are in support of the government being formed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu‏‏ and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz.

Despite angry denunciations of the Netanyahu-Gantz deal from Yair Lapid, Moshe Yaalon and left-wing leaders, only 22 percent of those polled by Channel 13 said they oppose it.

Yet, along with overall support goes a large helping of cynicism. Only 31 said they believe PM Netanyahu will honor the deal and vacate the Prime Minister’s Office in 18 months for Gantz to take over; 41 percent believe he’ll find a way to hold onto power, and 23 percent don’t know.
