Israel’s Youngest Coronavirus Patient: A Premature Baby in Yerushalayim

The youngest positive coronavirus patient in Israel is a two-month-old premature baby from Yerushalayim, who is in Shaare Zedek Medical Center. He caught the virus from a medical professional who worked last week at the NICU, without knowing that she was sick.

The baby is severely underweight and has complications arising from premature birth.

Fifteen other staff members at the preemie ward and those who were in contact with the baby were sent into quarantine, the hospital said Sunday. The baby’s parents, as well as other parents that were in contact with that worker, are also in quarantine.

Meanwhile, the Laniado Hospital in Netanya reported a respiratory deterioration in one of the patients suffering from coronavirus. The patient was put on oxygen support.
