Gas Leak in Pisgat Zeev
Emergency services have been mobilized to secure a potentially lethal gas leak from a tanker in the Yerushalayim neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev, The Jerusalem Post reported.
As of early Tuesday evening, seven firefighting teams were at work on the scene, and the Israel Electric Corporation cut off electricity in surrounding streets in order to avoid an electric spark that could ignite the gas and cause an explosion.
Engineers from the Fire and Rescue Services deployed advanced explosive detectors to monitor the hazard. Dangerously high amounts of gas were detected in the area of the leak.
Magen David Adom medics are on hand, and police are directing traffic away from the vicinity of the leak.
