Traffic Sign Criticized as Tricky Removed From Fort Hamilton Parkway
BORO PARK (BoroPark24.com) – A turn sign on Fort Hamilton Parkway that drivers had complained about as confusing was removed ahead of Tuesday’s morning rush hour.
The sign, which was recently put up at the corner of 37th Street, was some distance away from the intersection. It directs drivers to turn right only from the right lane while the left lane is solely for straight through traffic. Left turns are not allowed.
But as drivers approach the intersection, there is only a second sign limiting right turns at the right lane. Nothing indicates a ban on left turns from the left lane. Police have ticketed many drivers who mistakenly made left turns from the intersection.
Alerted to the confusion, Pinny Ringel from the mayor’s office arranged for the Department of Transportation to remove the sign banning left turns.
