Rabbi Badly Beaten in London

LONDON (AP/Hamodia) -

A visiting Rabbi has been badly beaten by men shouting anti-Semitic statements in London.

Shomrim said Monday that the Rabbi collapsed on the pavement for several minutes, and was left “bleeding and dazed,” after an assault by men who shouted “Kill the Jews” and other taunts.

The attack occurred Friday night after the Rabbi left a shul. He was in Britain for a family wedding and has since returned to Israel.

The “prolonged assault” only ended when a woman passed the scene and shouted at the assailants to stop, Shomrim said.

The assailants are described as two young black males.

Shomrim says hate crimes in the U.K. have increased in recent weeks.

Over the weekend, swastikas were found on two Jewish homes in London.
