Israeli drivers were given an amnesty for speeding tickets issued since June 2018, following a court ruling that traffic cameras used during that period were found inaccurate, The Times of Israel reported on Tuesday.

The announcement comes after a legal battle over the speed cameras in which Acre Magistrate’s Court ruled they could not be used as evidence to collect fines.

However, following multiple laboratory tests of the technology, the courts gave police the green light to reintroduce them. The amnesty period ends as of Tuesday, July 23.
